Another great Season of events at The Windmill!

April 30th was The Windmill’s opening day for the 2022 Season. The weather was beautiful and Rochester newscaster, John Kucko joined us, going live on Facebook and promoting his sunflower postcards with proceeds going to Ukraine. The Windmill also welcomed its first tour bus of the Season on opening day.

Memorial Day, May 30th gave us another beautiful day and the Spring Car Show. Event organizers, John and Tammy of Cruize’n Time, enjoyed a record number of entered cars in the show.

June 11th was the date of the first Literary Event at The Windmill. F.L.A.R.E., Finger Lakes Authors and Readers Experience, a group of Finger Lakes based authors, helped to coordinate and cohost the event. There were a wide variety of genres of books from which to choose.

In the Windmill’s 35 years, it had never held an evening event. 2022 and the 35th Anniversary seemed to be the right time to try. Friday, July 1st was chosen due to the hope that there would be many visitors in the area who might be looking for something to do on Friday evening. There were many nervous moments spent wondering if people would come. The first Windmill Street Party turned out to be a success! With live music, food, face painting, bounce houses, and our merchants set up outside for the evening, there was lots of laughter, smiling faces, tapping feet and dancing.

2022 would see the third annual Fall Fest at The Windmill. Each year this event has grown in size and popularity. The Windmill Board of Directors decided to move the Fall Fest to Columbus Day weekend and extend the event to two days. This being the largest event of the Season, included an organ grinder, live reindeer, a wool spinning demonstration, a portrait artist, pumpkin and face painting, a petting zoo, bounce houses, a mechanical bull, The Finger Lakes Alpine Band and recording artist, Nate Michaels. It is the hope and intention of The Windmill to expand this event even more in the years to come.

October 29th saw the return of the highly popular, Dancing Witches of The Southern Tier. They draw of crowd fans, young and old, each October. The Windmill also welcomed the little ghosts and goblins to its yearly Trick or Treat on this day.

The closing weekend for the 2022 Season was November 25 and 26th.  For the fourth year in a row, The Windmill extended its thanks to their customers by making these days Customer Appreciation Days. The Windmill merchants offered special discounts and very generously donated items for hourly, filled to the brim and overflowing gift bags. A daily grand prize package was also given. The smiles on the shoppers’ faces these two days, put a crown on an already great Season! Santa’s reindeer made an appearance on Friday to make sure everyone had been good and the real Santa, we swear, made his yearly visit to welcome the kiddos, pets and adults alike.

Once again, The Windmill is thankful to all its loyal customers and merchants for another successful Season!
