Tucked within The Windmill’s North Street of Shops is a master furniture craftsman named Ion Zimmerman. His colorful handiwork sprawls beneath the open country sky for visitors to browse. Easing yourself into any seat instantly demonstrates the quality of Ion’s work.
The quality of his workmanship alone is impressive, but Ion has more surprises in store.
He builds his furniture using synthetic lumber made from recycled plastic. The plastics are shredded, heated, and mixed with UV inhibitors that protect against environmental exposure. This preserves their rich color pigments.
A Master Craftsman’s Humble Beginnings
Ion started his woodworking career in Pennsylvania in 1987.
Through rigorous trial and error, he improved each version of his products.
The untrained eye may not notice the subtle grace of Ion’s work, but the quality is undeniable. There are many advantages of POLYWOOD over natural lumber.
Knots, cracks, splintering, and decay make wood challenging to preserve.
Wooden products are susceptible to damage from weather, insects, and rot.
POLY lumber, on the other hand, is low-maintenance. It’s weather resistant for all seasons, and impervious to insects and water damage.
In addition to expert craftsmanship, Ion has a talent for color coordination.
All are paired beautifully with accent tones that can match any style from rustic to modern.
The colors are protected by anti-UV so they’ll be rich and vibrant for years to come.
Ion said his favorite part of his Saturdays at the Windmill is getting to meet people from far and wide. Visitors from every corner of America have stopped by Ion’s stand.
It’s difficult to pin down just one thing that makes Countryside Woodworking so pleasant to visit. It could be Ion’s warm and friendly nature, the eye-catching colors of his furniture, or the sheer bliss of relaxing in one of his chairs. All that is certain is this selection puts other outdoor furniture to shame.
